The police arrived at Hanover Farms after residents contacted them about the unusual recruitment flyers from the Ku Klux Klan. The fliers depict the infamous KKK hooded figure between a pair of crosses. The text of the flier contain messages such as, “The KKK Wants You!” and “The law abiding citizens of your community can sleep in peace tonight know the Klan is on the prowl.”

Apparently, these KKK fliers were left by Klan members during the night. They were placed inside plastic bags and weighted down with rocks to keep them in place. A similar KKK flier incident was reported in Arkansas recently.

The police recovered about a dozen more similar KKK flyers dropped off at several other houses in the neighborhood. It remains unknown as to why the KKK left the notes on select houses only.

Residents were surprised to find out that the KKK still exists in Virginia. Some were uncomfortable and scared of the KKK being on the “prowl.” Theodore Olson, a resident who reported the incident to the police, expressed his suspicion and collected a handful of the KKK recruitment fliers to give to the police as evidence in case something unfortunate happens in the neighborhood.

The Sheriff’s Department of Hanover explains that they couldn’t do anything about it since the KKK did not do anything against the law. However, the incident was still noted because it concerned the security of residential areas at night.

After the “KKK and Obama” graffiti in a neighborhood in Richmond Heights, Sheriff Sam Page of Wentworth, North Carolina received reports about the discovery of several “KKK” graffiti all over the Rockingham County High School campus on Wednesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office received reports early Wednesday, Nov.7, that several black and white vandalisms where found “throughout the school campus” located at 180 High School Road. According to the press release from the sheriff’s office, the graffiti included offensive language referencing the high school and ‘KKK’ in several locations.

The Sheriff’s office has refused to release photos of the “KKK” graffiti due to its graphic and inflammatory content.

Sheriff Page asserts that the principal and the school administration have already been notified with this incident.

This is the second time the Rockingham County High School was vandalized this week. The first incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 2, wherein several markings were also found across the campus. The difference with the present incident is that the past graffiti referenced Morehead High School. According to Page, the previous graffiti did not use foul or racially-offensive language

Although several KKK referencing activities have been surfacing recently, it is still unknown if the incident is directly related to the KKK. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s cooperation to identify the offender responsible for these vandalisms. Anyone who can provide information may contact the sheriff’s office at (336) 634-3232.

Authorities dismissed hate issues, stating that the suspect appeared incoherent and “just walked around and hit houses and cars he felt like vandalizing.” A resident claimed that the man seemed drunk. He was also inconsistent and did not appear affiliated to any political group; scrawling KKK on some houses and defacing cars by spray-painting them with President Obama’s last name.

The man damaged a total of two houses and seven cars through the “KKK” and “Obama” vandalisms. Victims were both white and African-American households in Weston Place, Bredell Avenue and Thomas Avenue.

A spokesperson from the KKK is prompt in denying that the KKK is in any way related to the incident. In an email, the spokesperson said that property damage and other types of similar acts “do not come from true Klansmen.”

KKK is the acronym of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group in the United States. The KKK had been notorious for hate crimes and violent means to attain racial segregation and white supremacy. Their name is often used to by other unrelated people to express racist opinions and to spread fear among many non-white Americans.

Richmond Heights is a diverse, middle class suburb in St. Louis County. According to Richmond Heights Mayor James Beck, the neighborhood consists of both whites and African-American residents. Residents couldn’t believe that such a thing happened in their neighborhood.

Residents of Harrison, Arkansas woke up one day to find over 300 KKK fliers in their yards.
The fliers, depicting a hooded Klansman and bearing the message “White pride, white power,” were placed inside plastic bags weighted down with rocks before being tossed in the neighborhood. Similar fliers meant to recruit new members into the Imperial White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were also found in Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Indiana.
These KKK fliers stirred contradicting reactions. Thomas Robb, national director of the Imperial White Knights of the KKK, insists that the fliers were a mere message of taking pride in the heritage and culture of the white people. His KKK group is listed as one of the many hate groups in Arkansas, but he thinks otherwise. He explained that loving his own heritage more is not the same as hating on minorities. He further added that non-white Americans have nothing to fear from the KKK.
However, some Harrison citizens are concerned that the KKK is spreading hate and racial conflicts again. Jeff Crocket, mayor of Harrison, Arkansas, expressed his dissatisfaction of the group being associated with the city again. “We’ve been trying to distance ourselves from Harrison as being home to the Klan,” he said.
The KKK is infamous for its hooded meetings, fiery crosses, and vehement calls for racial segregation in the United States. Although the secret group is not as prominent as it was in the past, Harrison authorities are taking the KKK propaganda incident seriously. He firmly expressed that Harrison will not tolerate hate.

Sharmeka Moffitt, 20, claimed that three hooded men had attacked her while walking along a park trail in Winnsboro, La. around 8 p.m. on Sunday. In her call to 911, Moffitt claims that the members of the KKK doused her in flammable liquid and set her on fire. The police arrived immediately and found racial slurs and the initials “KKK” written in her car. Moffitt suffered third degree burns on about 60% of her body and had to be moved to a hospital in Shreveport, La.

Different law enforcement agencies have joined forces to find her attacker but to no avail. Things got more difficult when police investigations led to evidences against the “victim” instead. Authorities found Moffitt’s fingerprints in a cigarette and can of lighter fluid recovered near the scene. Led by these evidences, the police now believe that Moffitt had written the racial slurs and KKK’s initial on her car herself.

Local residents were shocked when news about the alleged KKK attack surfaced. But they were even more outraged and frustrated when the police findings came out. They feel the tension that the fake KKK attack has put on everybody. One resident stated that people started “believing that it was racial issues and everybody was hating everybody because of this.”

This is not a first time that a fake hate crime or KKK attack has been reported in the United States.

The Ku Klux Klan, otherwise known as The Klan or KKK, is a far right organization that has been associated with 3 time periods America. The history of the KKK spotlights an organization that previously has endorsed acts of extremism including white supremacy, nationalism, and anti-immigration. These radical views have traditionally been supported by means of terrorist acts in support of their agenda. The 2nd as well as 3rd faction belonging to the Ku Klux Klan made numerous mention of this country’s “Anglo-Saxon” and “Celtic” blood, dating back to 19th century nativism and racialism in which people priding themselves on originated from the very first 18th century English revolutionaries. All record keeping associated with the history of the KKK has shown well-documented reports of the Klu Klux Klan carrying out acts of terror, even though historians disagree on how extensively terrorism was recognized by the regular membership belonging to the 2nd KKK. The KKK the 1920’s included in its belief structure an anti-communist stance on politics. Today’s Klu Klux Klan is fractured into multiple chapters and is categorized to be a hate group.
The earliest Klan prospered within the Southern states during the 1860s, disgruntled war veterans of the Confederacy created the Ku Klux Klan in order to further segregate African Americans by denying them the rights of freedom and equality that had been won in the American Civil War. These Klansmen of the KKK did everything in their power to prevent African Americans from enjoying these newly acquired civil rights. In order to further their agenda Klansmen of the Klu Klux Klan often propagated violence or threats of violence towards African Americans seeking to further themselves. Oftentimes these acts of violence would lead to injury, death, and even murder. To conceal their identities members of the Klan began to wear white robes as a way to intimidate African Americans. Their iconic bright white attire was comprised of robes, face masks, together with conical shaped caps, which were made to be extravagant and frightening. Organizations supporting similar propaganda as the KKK helped some southern states once again secure their dominance over blacks in Southern society. These hate propagating organizations slowly declined during the late 1870s, with the implementation of the legal system segregation and repression based legislation know as the Jim Crow Laws.

A revival of the KKK in the 1920’s blossomed countrywide due to a mass migration of foreigners and blacks to the north. Fears stemming from religious beliefs and jobs insecurities led the KKK to further its membership numbers during this time. The faction implemented identical attire to the first Klan, only they implemented cross burnings into their rituals. It was at this time that the KKK expanded its prejudices to include religious and racial minorities they felt threatened their core beliefs. The KKK in the 1920’s expanded its reach into the Northern half of the country during this time. The KKK in the 1920’s was especially strong in Ohio boasting over fifty thousand members in its rank including high ranking politicians and city officials. The KKK in the mid 1920s began to decline as David Stephenson, the Grand Dragon of Indiana got arrested on an account of assaulting a young girl. Other prominent members were also arresting for various other scandals and criminal deeds. The KKK, once standing for a respectable cause, saw its decline soon after.
The 3rd KKK came forth soon after World War II during the 1950’s and 60’s was initially linked to opposing the civil rights movement and advancement among minorities. This belief structure has been carried out and still exists today and although the KKK of today may not be as prevalent in numbers as the KKK in the 1920’s it’s still a hate group to put on our radar for years to come. With the presidential election of America’s first African American President Barack Obama, the KKK has seen growing interest stemming from the fears of what a minority in office might do. With fear of the unknown caused by this election driving prejudices the Klu Klux Klan may yet see another revival of their members.
